Working with Numbers

In Kindergarten we spend a lot of time working with numbers up to 20. We want the students to be flexible in their mathematical thinking, and have a solid number sense. It's good to have a mental representation of anchor numbers like 5 and 10, which is why we use ten frames so often. Today we used a "number relationship mat" to show many different ways of thinking about and representing numbers.
