Readers Choose Books They Like...

In Kindergarten one of the most important things we do is encourage/instill a love of reading. We want students to become life-long readers. Children who love books are motivated to learn to read. When reading becomes a chore or a source of stress, children are much less motivated. In Reader's Workshop, we learned that "Readers choose books they like." The students were encouraged to find books that they want to read and to think about why they like that book or type of book.
